residency programme

in collaboration with Fondazione Oelle Mediterraneo Antico. The residency programme includes a path of research in the area of Catania aimed at the production of an exhibition or publishing project. The project is conceived as an opportunity to explore and analyze the territory in order to return an image or reading of it.

2023
Giuseppe Di Liberto

The second residency hosted Palermo artist Giuseppe Di Liberto. Di Liberto explores one of the most unknown and mysterious themes to human beings: death; his production moves with the intention of investigating the rituals and dynamics that revolve around it, focusing on the social, cultural and political aspects that can be discerned in the contemporary. During the residency, Giuseppe Di Liberto worked on the work Con una dolce melodia all'orecchio mi acceso a descendere il cielo (With a sweet melody in my ear I'm about to descend the sky), which was presented in the spaces of viaraffineria on April 28 and 29, 2023 on the occasion of the event Stendalì - suonano ancora | una sagra contemporanea, curated by Ilaria Leonetti and Rosita Ronzini.

2021
Vaste Programme

The first edition welcomed the Roman collective VASTE PROGRAMME in collaboration with the OELLE Mediterraneo Antico Foundation in Aci Castello, Catania.

Vaste Program is a collective born in 2017 from the encounter between Giulia Vigna (1992), Leonardo Magrelli (1989) and Alessandro Tini (1988). Their research moves in the field of post-photography and new media. Objects and materials that belong to everyday life and to which we rarely pay attention, are reused and combined with the adoption and reuse of “found images” to reveal unexpected aspects and new meanings. Their first book The Long Way Home of Ivan Putnik, Truck Driver was published by The Eriskay Connection in 2021.
